ADAPTATIONS DATA ABOUT SUMMARIES

About

Welcome to The Accounts of Monte Cristo, the ONLY website dedicated to cataloguing the numerous different adaptations of Alexandre Dumas' novel The Count of Monte Cristo.

First published in 1844, the story of betrayal and revenge is one of the most widely adapted, spanning films, books, TV series, board games, musicals, and more. On the adaptations page you can find more about these. Needless to say, there are numerous spoilers here.

On the data page you can find out more about how often the different characters and plot elements occur across the adaptations.

On the character summaries page you can find a tool for getting a spoiler-free recap of how each character fits into the story.

Criteria for inclusion

There are a huge number of potential candidates for inclusion here. I've left out sequels (there are quite a few of these and they are almost invariably rubbish) but have included anything called The Count of Monte Cristo, anything that follows the plot closely, or anything that is often billed as a remake or interpretation.

This is not an exhaustive list, so if you know of an adaptation that isn't covered here or want to get in touch for any other reason you can do so here:
